Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 11, 2026

This policy explains what data openmenu.us collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. We keep this in plain language because privacy policies shouldn’t require a law degree to read.

What Data We Collect

Website analytics. We plan to use Google Analytics to track how visitors use the site — which pages get visited, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. Once active, this data will be collected through cookies and tied to anonymous identifiers, not your name or email address. This section will apply once analytics are enabled.

Email submissions. If you email us at contact@openmenu.us — whether to report a correction, send a tip, or ask a question — we store your email address and message so we can respond. We don’t add you to any mailing list unless you ask to be added.

Comments. If we enable a comment system on articles in the future, comments will collect the name, email, and website URL you provide when posting. Your email won’t be displayed publicly.

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Hostinger) collects basic server logs: your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting, not marketing.

How We Use Your Data

We use collected data for three purposes:

  1. Improving content. Analytics tell us which topics readers care about, which helps us plan what to write next.
  2. Responding to feedback. If you email us, we use your contact info to reply and follow up on corrections or tips.
  3. Keeping the site running. Server logs help us spot technical problems, block malicious traffic, and keep the site online.

We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t build profiles on individual visitors.

Third-Party Services

Openmenu.us uses the following third-party services that may collect data:

  • Google Analytics (not yet active) — Once enabled, will track anonymous site usage data. Google’s privacy policy will apply to data they collect. You’ll be able to opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
  • Hostinger — Our web hosting provider. They process server logs and may store data on servers in the US or EU.
  • WordPress — The content management system that powers this site. If Jetpack or other WordPress plugins are installed in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect any new data collection.

We don’t currently run ads on the site. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any ad-related tracking goes live.

Cookies

Openmenu.us uses a small number of cookies:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, not yet active) — Once enabled, these will track anonymous usage patterns and expire after 2 years of inactivity.
  • WordPress cookies — If you leave a comment or log in, WordPress sets cookies to remember your session. These are functional, not tracking cookies.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The site will still work without them.

Your Rights

No matter where you live, we respect these rights:

  • Access. You can ask us what data we hold about you. Email contact@openmenu.us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete any personal data we have — emails, comments, or anything else tied to your identity. We’ll comply unless we have a legal reason to keep it.
  • Opt-out. Once analytics are active, you can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out tool linked above, or by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser.
  • Correction. If any data we hold about you is wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it.

These rights apply to all visitors. If you’re in the EU, these align with your GDPR rights. If you’re in California, these cover your CCPA rights too.

AI Content Disclosure

Openmenu.us uses AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and content checks. All articles are reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by the editorial team before they go live. AI tools do not collect reader data through our site. This disclosure is a standing policy — it applies to all content, not just selected articles.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For major changes — like adding ad tracking or a new data collection tool — we’ll note the change clearly on the site.
